Federal and State Aid Programs

ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ Southern participates in all of the major federal and many state-based programs based upon financial need. Even if you do not qualify for a federal or state grant, you may still be eligible for a need-based assistance from ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ.

Federal Pell Grant

The Federal Pell Grant Program provides need-based grants to low-income undergraduate, degree-seeking students who had not already obtained a bachelor’s degree. The amount depends on your financial need, costs to attend school, status as a full-time or part-time student, and plans to attend school.

Up to $7,395

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program provides need-based grants to help low-income undergraduate, degree-seeking students with exceptional need to finance the costs of postsecondary education.

Up to $500

Federal Work-Study Program

For need-based students who qualify, the Federal Work-Study Program provides students with part-time jobs to help meet their financial need and offer work experience on campus and in the community. Eligibility for work-study and other federal programs is based upon the FAFSA, which must be filed annually.

ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ Student Assistance Grant (FSAG)

The ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ Student Assistance Grant (FSAG) Program is a need-based grant program available to degree-seeking, resident, undergraduate students who demonstrate substantial financial need and are ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ residents.
Funds may be limited and it’s important to complete your FAFSA early to receive full consideration.

ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ Southern Need-Based Awards

ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ Southern also provides need-based grants to students who qualify. We offer options for academically outstanding first-year applicants who demonstrate significant financial need.

George W. Jenkins Scholarship

The George W. Jenkins Scholarships are intended to allow deserving students to complete a four-year college education without substantial economic hardship for themselves or their families. They are named for, and funded by, the founder of Publix Super Markets, Inc.

Full tuition and fees, room and board, stipend, and funds for books and supplies

Hazel Haley Scholarship

Awarded to graduates of Lakeland High School and Harrison School for the Arts with proven financial need. Preference is given to students pursuing a major in English or education. Eligible students are invited to apply for this scholarship in early spring.
